Why should I have a PCP?
Selecting and reporting your Primary Care Physician (PCP) to Managed Health Care Systems (MHCS) is no longer necessary, regardless of the medical plan you choose. However, MHCS strongly encourages plan members to select and establish a relationship with a single provider and visit at intervals recommended in the plan’s Preventive Care Guidelines at http://www.osumhcs.com/wellness/guide.asp.

We advise you to plan ahead and schedule an appointment to see your new physician to become an established patient of the practice before you have an acute illness or injury and prior to requesting a referral or medication refill. If you become ill, it is up to the individual provider as to when you can be seen or if you would be referred to an outside source if you were not an established patient. The PCP is not responsible for your care until you have been officially established with the practice.

Where can I find a listing of PCPs included in the OSU network?
You can find a participating PCP at www.osumhcs.com under the Provider Search link.
